Memories of the 10th FACE Meeting in Wisla Poland
Marta Lizcano, Marco Sulzgruber and Jeff Schneider are remembering their favorite moments from last year's Meeting in Poland.
The meeting started in the small city of Wisla and ended in Cracow 7 days later.
Apart from the workshops which dealt with problems of European cities, cultural heritage, racism and xenophobia there was also a creative one which was in charge of a radio project.
The Polish delegation showed us a lot of interesting sights in their region, like the city of Ustron, a beer brewery in Zywiec, a huge dam and a famous cable car which brought us on the top of a mountain. Beside, leisure activity filled our evenings. Sport tournaments, polish restaurants and parties were really much appreciated.
After the discussion round with polish politicians in Katowice, the young European citizens made their way to the former Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz. This overwhelming experience will never be forgotten. Surely, all of us had heard about that place before, but hearing is not the same as seeing. We have to learn from our mistakes; Auschwitz is a good example of what must not happen again.
The last weekend was spent in the marvelous city of Cracow. Sightseeing, shopping and enjoying nightlife formed an amazing end for an amazing week with amazing people. New friendships were made and a lot of different ideas were exchanged; all in all an unforgettable FACE-Meeting.
